  • Diff control saves & visible on map

Hi All,

Couple of ideas I had.

I use different controls for my SS, then for my FF, DD, CL, CA & BB.  (Don't have a CV)

So maybe the ability to save more then one set of controls would be great as I have to change all my controls
when I change ships.

On the small map in the bottom right hand corner I thought it would be good to have the teams' visible area
and non-visible distinguishable. Maybe just using light and dark same as on big map.

Thanks for listening.
Thanks for your work on the game.
JJ

LOL

relax. OP had a valid suggestion, just trying to discuss it here.

understandably the game already give a lot of leeway in control editing but a lot of people still depend on the fixer or have game rituals. Just trying to expand the UI and make it more user friendly.

Well i wasnt that aggressive i think what i was willing to transmite was a surprised and astonished tone of voice and trying totake the light side, I am not again specific command, but there are that many common comand actually tha i believe the easyiest is to remember which sector of the keyboard control what kind of ship
thats all
You dont need to reprogram game, and I would love to see the keyboards of some gamers, the QWERTASDFYX digits must be carved by use right now....

Poor OP, he had a good idea, simple, no change to game mechanics, just a comfort thing, TONS of GAMES have customizable and savable controls. Not sure hwy anyone would rage at and denigrate a person's game play abilities or general qualities as a person for having an idea, but in this game and online games in general, there tends to be a large segment of the population that gets off on acting superior, I guess to make themselves feel cooler.
As far as the sight thing, I've wondered why it doesnt show the Fog of War on the minimap, it would help team CV see areas that need vision.... that's bad? And before any geniuses flame ME for saying that, yes, I know any player can click around and SEE for themselves, but it would be a bit easier that way. That's all. No reason to flip out. You're still the omgwtfbbqpwnzorzcopterauce

The fact is you already can do what he propose only you have to mind that commands are in differents places of the keyboard.

You can already save and load control layouts? Or did you mean you can already click a button on the map to have it shaded according to your team's vision?

No, you can't already do what he proposed.

You CAN, however, still customize the controls. However I think if you read carefully, nobody said that they can't customize their controls in this thread. Keep beating on that straw man though.

this guy as well as OP both know you can edit keys.. duh F10. They are suggesting different customizable, savable ,overlapping key configs for different class ships.

example:
-QWE control guns but on a sub without guns, he wants those keys to be dive/crit/fast since his fingers are on FV anyway.
-He also has a BB which he plays with default controls.
-During HA, he is awaits orders for the tile leader to tell him to bring BB or SS depending on situation.
-Doesnt want to spend a minute editing keys between games.

hypothetical analogy:
think of 1st or 3rd person shooter.
-sniper rifle has a toggle to look down the scope
-not a sniper? look down the iron sights
-no gun? look through binoculars
Doesnt need different button and doesnt need to go to edit menu between switching weapons .Same situation here
-rotate guns
-no guns? submerge
-not ss? launch planes
just because we have more keys than a game controller...

No, you can't currently save multiple control layouts OR see your team's FoW on the minimap. Both of these are good ideas, and the only arguments you have are philosophical ones, i.e:

" Psh, you eat your PB&J sandwiches with the CRUST CUT OFF? Duh, you can just eat around the crust, noob!"

Justify your rude attitude and name calling any way you want. Your comments are still non-constructive, hostile, and unwelcome. Have some class.

I don't think we need this game any easier than it already is

Sometimes things are not part of the game because they make it too easy

That's a valid point, albeit purely opinion, but it only applies to the minimap suggestion. Unfortunate that the OP put two suggestions into one thread, really.

For the minimap I'd like to say that it would just make cving too easy because it would prevent the "tunnel vision" that lower level cvs tend to get. Map awareness is a very important skill
