Hi All,

Couple of ideas I had.

I use different controls for my SS, then for my FF, DD, CL, CA & BB.  (Don't have a CV)

So maybe the ability to save more then one set of controls would be great as I have to change all my controls
when I change ships.

On the small map in the bottom right hand corner I thought it would be good to have the teams' visible area
and non-visible distinguishable. Maybe just using light and dark same as on big map.

Thanks for listening.
Thanks for your work on the game.
JJ

to kingcong i know what they are suggesting to do, what i answer is that: If you (1 alone) find too difficult to learn the position of standard keys control, how can you seriously suggest to make what you dont wnt do do to all others (dont know how many but a lot) a total new set of command?
But even whitout taking it that way the real problem is: we are talking of gunless CV and SS to use the standard kys of gun controll to use those ships, that you imply have no guns.... Fact is the y have and somebody also uses them, so it would be a real mess, a setting fo gunless CV, on to Gunmounted CV (crap i shooted my teammate launchin planes), on for gunless SS, on for gunmounted SS (wooops sorry for the 8 torps in your stern mister Kaiser).
My proposal was not aggressive or mean, i just told him he can actually save the key settings keeping the keys relatives spatial distances, the fact he would maybe have to remember that CV controls are in lwer right, SS controll upper right, while ship control and gun control are on the left.
So prior to accuse others to be mean and agessive try to count to 10 and not confuse discussion with arguing, the fact i have not the same opinion doesnt mean i hate you....

Say what you want. Anything that helps a player contribute to his team in a better fashion without changing the abilities of his ship/weapons/sailors is a good thing. "too easy" is a cop out.
Hey, I suggest we remove all key controls altogether. Manual fire is too easy with key controls, the buttons on the screen are there for a reason. Use those. Some whiner must have complained that it was too much of a pain and they "caved" and gave him a usable control system and we all have to "suffer" for it, obviously. /sarcasm
If they implemented the FoW suggestion, and it stopped just 1 single BB crying for vision in the south, north, w/e, then I'd pay an extra dollar a month.
If ease of use is such a bad thing, why even build features into a game? The more of a pain in the ass it is , the better right? If fact, why don't we make it even MORE of a pain?WHy have a minimap at all? Lazy noobs can't mouse around and look for themselves? Being able to glance down and get a rough picture of the ship disposition is far too easy.
Let's hear some suggestions of things we can remove from the UI or game , to end this "easiness" the game has. Lets toss in a number sequence you need to type in every time before you fire your guns, say, nine digits long, and make it longer for each larger ship class, say 24 digits for a BB6. Guess that would add a ton more "skill" to the game right? Which would be better for the game, right?
I'm reccing , since either couldn't hurt, and has zero impact on me, other than to perhaps make the CV on my team more responsive to my vision needs, without having to type, asking for it. Lol, it doesnt make it easier for CV, it makes it easier for BB actually. The control things just give players who are into customizing a little something to play with, and has no real impact on game play whatsoever.

if you want we can ask for a 5° angle correction guns, ora maybe magnetic homed torps.... /irony
seriously at the beggining of a game you know where the ennemy is, when you are at contact you see red dots, and where you dont is where the fog is, i know later on you have not the ennemy all around but by this time you should be able to remember at least where the biggest ships (or the best targets) are circling around.
And Btw its not a minimap, its a sonar screen
/irony mode on
I love the way all you around use sarcasm in a quite random way, being sarcastic is not just tell what you think in a aggressive way and then say: "chill out i was sarcastic". Sarcasm is more than that, but the best is that you really became sarcastic only after you closed the sarcasm mode.
/cinical (which actually pown sarcasm)
You know the best way to shut up a sight whining BB? you nuke it with your sub .
/cinical
can someone lend a dictionary to someone so people will start to understand what what they say imply?

Red, it's time to let it go. I don't mind if you want to look the fool, but now that you've made your point, insulting people with broken English isn't helping the thread or your cause.

It is just an option for the game. The same way there is the current option to save different keys.

If people are fine with their current setup, more power to them. It is not going to change the current controls for anyone except the ones who are willing to try something new.

We are not asking for much or for any new overpowered content. A while back an Anti-aliasing option was introduced and made zooming out a tad smoother. But you had to F10 and click it every game. It was later patched that it could be saved. It did not hurt anyone. If someone did not like (too much lag) they could leave it turned off. Simple.

There were probably haters but they could just choose never to click it. They did not have to get on forum and get all defensive about how lame the idea is or how it is screwing up everybody's gameplay.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the responses.

Just for the record (not that it effects me what people I will probably never meet think),

I am aware that I can change the keys via F10 and I go this through this every time I change ship types. I do not 'hate' on this or the game for any other reason. I play for fun, yes there are issues but i don't hate on them either, I am happy with this game and that's why I play.

As for the Q/W/E/A/S/D etc keys on my keyboard being worn out, well, my keyboard thanks you for your concern but wishes to express it's hardy nature and good design.

I am also aware that there are different regions (areas) of the keyboard for different things. I am not a touch typer and do not know exactly where all my keys are, constantly trying to find my fingers during hectic play may only be a fraction of a sec, but they really count sometimes. I wish to be frustrated in the game buy better players encouraging me to get better by sinking me, not by hitting the wrong button or looking for the buttons.

I wish to also point out that there are some keys that can not be changed: the macros and the plane selection keys. These keys sit above the Q/W/E/A/S/D so therefor whatever ship I am using I like to have the main controls near the Keys I am unable to edit.

I am very happy that some people know there keyboard layouts so well, I do not and am too old to want to learn it now. I hope that explains to those who could not understand my reasons why I change my buttons round.

Also my proposal regarding 3 control tabs that could be saved individually does not effect the game or anyone in any way. If you only use one set of controls great there will be 2 Tabs in the F10 screen that you do not use. I would though. Tab 1 FF/DD/CA/CL/BB Tab2 SS Tab 3 CV (I am assuming as I don't have one yet, but I can imagine I would like my plane controls near the pilot selection keys (1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9) So eg. I will make altitude Q/E etc etc. )

Mini- map Fog of War idea came from playing BB and never knowing where my scouts are needed to be sent (without looking round the map, missing AA shots I should be taking to defend my team ). I thank you all for your responses regarding this. I enjoyed the suggestion that map skills need to be developed, also that it could make the game to easy. These things I do not know as I am a relatively new player (6-8 months) and I need improving in many areas of my game play and look forward to improving.

Thank you for your advice about not posting 2 suggestions in the same thread. If I ever post in here again (which at the moment I do not feel inclined) I will make sure to separate any suggestions into different threads.

I must admit I was slightly surprised with the tone of some responses, personally I do not believe you do yourselves or NF any credit. As mentioned I doubt I'll be posting again. There's enough stress and work in my life, I play and participate in NF for fun.

For those who discussed the ideas (agree or disagree is irrelevant to me ) and made me feel welcomed, I Thank You

Maybe people are feeling 'jaded' due to the immature or the haters out there, I understand this. Please don't add to their numbers.

Best Wishes to you all and see you out on the seas ..............................................................

First i would like to apologyse on everybody, especially on OP. I acted like a 9year old kiddo and i am willing to try to behave better to now on

I wont flame (and i wasnt willing to do, it was more a BIG qui pro quo) What i was sayig is that even if you can save differents settings of command there are a lot of common commands so you would have to reconfigure them any way or learn a 2 way of control guns (if you need an ASW FW) or you finnaly get the KM flak gun.

Using differents sets of key could help you are right but I dont see the real benefit of that.
To try to explain that i can talk about my experience as a still levelling CV user: first CVs are gunless, setting altitude commands on QWE could be nice, but higher tier CVs have guns, so i would rather have to learn a new settings for specific CV gun control, or reset normal controls back). What i tried to do is to watch the key board i have in front of me and searche a way to fit all commands i can reach them easily and dont have to care more about it.

What i feared, and perhaps what made me overreact, is the fact it seemed to me than you were proposing in a way to make that almost compulsory to switch commands when you switch ship.

And to prove that i want to be constructive i woul like to add a thing to your proposal (as you said you dont drive any CV) to add an option to disable (temporary) ship control it happens a lot when you micro your pilots that suddently you take control your ship instead of planes and your CV (if you dont play with stopped ship) start to run toward enemy in a kamikaze style. Usually you notice that soon enough but sometimes you get spotted by a BB and fired upon, big CVs can afford 1 maybe 2 non complete salvos, but smaller CVs are just snapped to bits. And usually smaller ships are used by less skilled and experienced players.

What would help to relax a bit the situation in this forum would be the possibility to post some smileys (maybe with a counter id tell 10 for post max) to make obvious in what state of mind some sentnced are told. Rereading my post i noticed that if you dont know my state of mind they sound quite aggressive, and for hat i woul apologise again.
