  • Suggestion for news room types - Historic Battles

I was thinking in alternatives to GB/GB2, but with some meaning, and said...what if NF re-create a few XX century historical battles?

1 - Jutland Room: Steel and steam times
up to 30 BB, a lot of CA, CL and other minors vessels. No CVs, up to 6 SS
Only gunnery and stearing to win, like old times.

2 - Midway room: The sunset of Battleships as Capital ship.
Up to 16 CV´s, 6 to 8 BB and  other smaller ships.

3 - Atlantic Battle: The Submarines happy times.
Up to 16 SS, 6 BB and 6 CV. Only brave sailors will face the grey wolfes.

As I said, a suggestion to improve the situation "Only GB/GB2 rooms everytime".

Here I post the expansion of the three proposals for rooms with more details:


Jutland Room:

Minimum 24, maximum 30 BB + CA / CL / DD equipped with torpedoes. No CV or SS
Starting Grid: Each team shall be separated into two groups, one north, one south.
The two teams should start the game as far as possible so that the main role of exploration in WW1 style is in charge of smaller vessels.
The map which I think is best Amerigo


Midway Room:

Minimum 10, maximum 16 hp, up 6 / 8 SS BB and 6 CA / CL / DD
AA will be very important in this room, as the skies will be filled with planes, literally.
The main function of the BB deberín be to keep out of the reach of the enemy fleet, while the CV are wrapped in their own struggle.
Very important will be the SS, who must be a problem for explorers and the enemy fleet.
The base map for this room would be the one with the island in the center (Midway Island)


Atlantic Room:

Minimum 10, maximum 16 SS, up to 6 BB, 4 CV CA / CL / DD
They will be very important in this room the ASW, princpalmente DD.
Here players can showcase their talents SS to work together and form true packs of wolves.
BB and CV will get their chance to find the enemy you can see, as should be alert to the silent SS that surround them.
Room recommended for players level CL / DD to learn to search and destroy enemies SS.
Only for the brave.
I think the Blue Ocean map would be more appropriate in this case.

RECC i think the Alot of the GB ss will go the alantic room and i know some people that love that room
i tink we might get lag from all the torps and hhs?
i better train up a sonarman then

One thing, in your jutland room, you should still place them east west because south will always have range advantage.

You can also propose having dedicate ship placement (if it is possible or can be created). Such as placing ss closer to the front in atlantic room.

So how many ww1 ships do we really have?


Fuso, Ise, Hyuga, Resolution, Repulse, Dreadnaught, Warspite, Queen E, Hood, Renown, Revenge, the whole SN fleet, Nevada, Tennessee, Pennsy, New Mexico, Colorado, New York. Can't think of any others without looking up the ship lines.


How about the Germans can be given the ww1 ships they had only for Jutland.

Also ships should be rebalanced so they better match the naval engament ideas of WW1 for example the Hood which is an Admiral class Battlecruiser should be nerfed in Dp so it better reflects the classical ww1 british battlecruiser idea of a captial ship with the armanent of a Battleship but with much thinner armour therefore giving it much higher speed than much better protected slow battleships. The Slow battleship classes such as the Revenge and Nevada should have their DP greatly buffed so they can easily withstand the shots from other BB

I didn´t think about ranges, but you are right. It´s one more thing to consider.

Your suggestion for SS positioning in Atlantic Room I thinks it´s brillant.

Rereading you 3 rooms, the cv and ss rooms are good. I and concerned about the role of dd cl ca in the jutland room. Without significant AA or any asw targets it doesn't seem like they can do much and survive to the end of the battle.

Without much incentive for them, it will end up being a bb1-6 room which ends up being a bb5-6 room. With too much incentive for them and seeing how they don't have much to do but kill a couple scouts or rush, it seems like an excuse for leeching.

My only solution goes against the spirit of jutland but seeing how the other game modes contain all 3 capital ship classes but emphasize only the specific class. Perhaps allow cv and ss to a lesser extent say 2 of each per side to give dd a job. The unique experience gain can be given to scouting as suggested in another thread here.

IDN i think they should make so u can have 4 teams per room i miss it i never got to try it a mode with 4 teams thats what we need

You have a good point. Maybe Jutland room should include some CV and SS.
We originally had thought about exploring tasks of DD and CL I meant that this task would complement the recon aircraft from ships have from CL level.
The recon will be shoot-down sooner or later, then the tactics of the team that lost their recon should be grouped together and advance toward the enemy positions on a death ride, so that in close combat between BB smaller units have some opportunity to use their torpedoes and other weapons of lesser rank than the guns of the battleships.
Anyway I see that the original idea of keeping the focus on one type of capital ship for each type of room can be maintained and that is the main spirit of this thread.
