  • SS1's in Blitz games?

Samsa
Howdy

I suggest that SS1's be allowed into blitz games. The reasons are few but valid i think.

Since SS1 types are so slow, have short dive time and usually packing only 4 tubes, I dont see how they were not allowed into Blitz games (although i heard subs were quite powerful when they 1st came out).

Since a SS1 is not such a big threat it should be allowed into Blitz games. Fighting in Great Battle with SS1 is quite a letdown and they dont really have any place in the fleet except as sonar support or anti-sub, and the latter is usually futile unless the other sub is a SS1 as well.

A SS1 in Blitz games would not be overpowered considering they can only sink 1 or 2 ships at a time per salvo normally (and if they are lucky). As far as fighting against a sub in blitz, well we all know there are no shortages of Hedge Hogs in Blitz since many ppl like to 1 shot BB's or CA's with them...

Now for all you folks who say "subs would = fail in blitz" or "subs in blitz would be overpowered" I need only mention the Kita. The KitaKami is capable of single handedly destroying half a fleet with its torp walls, and if it doesnt destroy everything in its path it will push the entire enemy fleet to the outer fringes of the battlefield. A Kitakami is far more Overpowered in Blitz than a SS1 or even an SS2 could be, and yet it is allowed to enter a blitz game and suppress an entire team with its torp walls. Just 1 ship can do all that.. OP?

Despite all that, this is not a anti Kitakami post. This is about giving SS1's a proper battlefield and a chance to let people have more fun since it is discouraging to fight in GB as a SS1 when they simply are not up to such fights. Sure you might get lucky or even be a pro with a SS1 in GB (Prove it on youtube :-P) but the fact that so many ppl opt to pass SS1 altogether by leveling their sub crews in destroyers pretty much says it all eh?

Oh Navy Field devs, please accept this suggestion and make this game more fun, fair and balanced.

Thats all.

Samsa, you totally just used the "GB is harsh so lets throw SS1 in blitz" I said i didnt give a crap about. Contrary to you I do read all posts. My point is that THIS argument isn't one.

You can't ask for something to be implemented a a place with for sole argument it failed somewhere else.

I asked WHY you think SS1 have a place in a mode full of ship SS4 users whine about being owned by with an SS1 is a good idea. Why do you think this solution is a good one. Up to now you failed to give an answer to that.

And if you can't accept people critizing you, don't suggest.

How the heck do you see a ship whose main weapon is stealth in a ship mode where its auto spotted?

Blitz in their current state are murdering the skill, and lower level play. Solution is getting PHH out of it, not subs in.

So therefor a point I want you to answer is WHY it would be so worthwhile for SS to be allowed in blitz, while the anti-SS weapons are creating a bigger issue there that what would be gained from SS1 players to be added into blitz.

Answer to these question please. If you suggest something then run a tape of the same argument again and over again, then you aren't reading.

For the record, the "waaaaah unfair" is simply the first of the two most used arguments to allow SS in blitz. The 2nd is the one you've been using since the start.

As far as sub goes, they are all totally unbalanced for the game. 3 out of the 4 tiers are OP. One isn't. It appears underpowered but it just has to NOT be played bulldozer-winbutton-pwnstick like an ss4, and you can sink BB5 much better than an at level BB1 can.

Bump.

There's no good reason to disallow SS1s from blitz. The "they'd be screwed" argument is not a good reason against. It should be left to the individual player to decide whether they can be successful--blitz rooms are capped at level 60, and if a low-level SS wants to try a blitz or two here or there they shouldn't be stopped just because it will be difficult to succeed.

The bottom line is SS1 are not OP and shouldn't be blocked from blitz.

i think SS1 should be allowed in blitz
but again SS1 is not that bad
KM ss1 is very good as ASW considersing it's turn force and proxy torpedos
SN ss1 is good as ASW too considerins 4 bow & 2 styern tubes

I think its funny that people want to reject this idea because "SS1 wouldn't have a chance but the FF's (cannon fodder) are in Blitz.

I think an SS1 against an FF or a DD running blind into the mailstrom has a pretty good chance.

most of the lower level guys dont have sonar yet and the higher level guys running CL/CA classes need a challenge.

SS1 is pretty worthless. I never got a shot off most games while I worked my way through to SS2

FF and DD have sonar by default. It's an ability of those ships and don't need a sonar-man.

Blitz is dead. Get over it and move on.

I recced, but only for lolz. Blitz was a useful game type before the introduction of Horribbit Wars. It used to be a place for new players to learn the game, now it's a ball pit for kids on crack. Why not throw in a few subs...

Auto-sonar is only about 2/3 the range of a sonar man with zero true ability.

Agree, but it's enough to keep SS1 scouted in blitz for most of the time since most of the ships that participate there have this auto-sonar.

I don't see it as a problem, I was just stating that fact to counter the argument that they would be stealth ships against FF and DD without sonar.

Ah, I see. I didn't quite understand where you were coming from with that.
