A complete and honest application will always, in any application process, have more chances for success.

I believe there is a point where honesty and chances of success diverge... To all that can see the hidden posts, my answer for the airplane question would what I mean.

Honestly I'm kinda lost about what they want you to prove with that one.

Your ability to think quickly in a situation outside of your comfort zone.

Ok, here's my answer to your hypothetical question:
"Well, sirs of TNF, i would be screaming my throat off, as there is nobody flying the plane and the cabin door is always locked while the plane is in flight, so i have no way of doing so. And the planes gonna run out of fuel eventually."

-=Job profile and description=-

Moderate NF forums.

Salary is errr.....

-=Duties and resp.onsability=-

Deal with useless topics, people that aren't smart enough to figure out a search function is there for a reason (namely searching), hear people crying that because you disagreed with them, you are a flaming troll, and delete some actually not-flaming post so said people just stop crying in your PM box for a second. Oh, and most important, nuke ANY mention of ANY other game you can find! There is ONLY NF! They must not be allowed to learn about other games! Tanks are evil!

-=Skill and knowledge=-

Being able to take seriously people making a drama out of nothing is a must. You must be also able to make sense of a situation where the cause of the conflict is childish, pointless, and if you stop to think about it, really not worth your time. Thats why you must be able to not stop and think about it...

Ability to deal with extreme levels of stupidity is a must.

-=Education and specification=-

Any valid kindergarden educator experience will be really considered.

Looking at our question, knowing how to land an airplane is useful for the job.

Ability to understand google translate gibberish is also valuable.

If you can be bothered to fill out the application it shows the dedication required to be a forum mod.

Just randomly pick 4 people who apply and if they're shit then kick them out and select name 5, rinse and repeat.

There is no "salary" for Forum Mods. We do our work because we care for the community and wish to make it a better place.

A very nice sentiment. It doesn't, however, get me any closer to the requested job description.

Read aingeal's post. While probably meant to be slightly humorous, its actually right in pretty much every way.

Its actually both, a satiric, sure, but based on actual facts, and also inbedded the reason why many players that would be competent forum moderator do not post their candidature.

Bloodsky posted the reason I believe some of the staff truly receive as salary. And there are some I highly respect, for they proved time and time again they were doing a good, honest job and looked at the server/forum responsability they were entrusted with seriousness.

Another part however, simply bask in the baser human desire for power over his peers. Those people are more problematics. Off-topic, we could make the same analogy with politics, and more in-topic, fleet leadership.

Any of you who were entrusted a position of leadership in a fleet surely noticed some fleetmates shown an uncanny desire to raise up the rank, without having the skills to lead. Furthermost, they knew about it, but still wished for that power..

The problematic part, is they come to care more about the power they have, and forget the reason they are given this authority, is to accomplish a task, and that with this power came responsabilities.

A bit more serious of a post, but something that often prove a big issue when the moderating teams, both of forums and in game, are issued from the player base. An issue, I hope, is given consideration when they choose their members.

The lastest monitor choices, even after they were amended in view of new facts, worries me this isn't given enough consideration. Why else would some choices be really great and deserved (namely one. I believe he knows who he is), while other were much worse, simply looking at an individual motivation and overall behaviour? The reason some were removed from the list, weren't the reason why they never should have been there in the first place. (well, another reason. But before even going into background check, I believe they should have been cast aside).

So I hope all of this is being considered by the selection team.

On that note, I'll call my ISP and warn them of possible strange calls of angered people.
