You have massive true ability penalties in using an other nation sailors on a ship.
Exceptions to that rule are medic that works 100% on axis/allies (USN medic works on UK and US).

Also there is only so many crews you can level for a single nations without it getting quite boring.

Then what is the point at leveling another nation if you'll only use it in GBs
e)
For the rest, you didnt at all address my point of some nations being the paper to another nation's rock, which would make some contest quite sad, as you can totally use setups that concentrated on countering a single playstyle.
Ignoring a point doesnt make it go away.

is that personal?
b)
i know that. i was only answering an ironic post with a light ironic note
c)
here i do not quite understand your point.
d)
many people do that, just look around. still a fair number of multi-nation players in GBs
e)
i did not ignore your statement.
as you say, some nations are the paper of another nations' rock (or scissors).
this is constant and true only if the nations are totally unbalanced.
the old universal theory of the sword and the shield could change the odds in any 2 nations' fleets face up, all other factors being equal.
this could make a very good case for strategists to try and work out the best set-ups, defensive and offensive.
our difference on this point could only be settled by a real scale experience. i do not see how this could be done at the moment, with so little interest around.
i propose to close that thread, PM me if you wish.
cheers
