  • Why do you personally not come to test sessions?

Hey everyone. Just an open question.

We need people to help with battletesting and give their opinions on them during
test sessions. Obviously, if you couldn't make this weekends due to a one off event,
that isn't the point of the thread, its for those that don't attend whatsoever.

Is it because you would rather gain exp on the main server? (A valid point, if that is
your opinion, please tell us that).

Is it due to lack of rewards?

Is it due to the account system there, and having to class all the crew?

Is it due to technical issues?

Or, are you just not interested (again, a valid point)?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On top of that, not many people partake in the test server discussion board. What
are the reasons for that?

and who sets the tone of what is rubbish? I agree saying a L2 needs buffed is dumb
to say the least, but I have seen ppl get backlashed for trying to explain something
and not knowing the right words to use, and be treated like an idiot

there is alot more to this game in fixing things besides SD and north south
advantage, and other common things ppl just pick up, knowing that something
should have a -2 speed cap or +2 train speed added, alot of ppl who play this game
wouldnt have a clue how to judge that, or how to put it terms that wouldnt sound
like, well...rubbish as you call it

there are maybe a handful of players that play now, that could really contribute, and
the rest either dont have time or dont care, or you get the one that thinks he knows
all, and get around ppl who do, and watch the flames fly

we are all aware this game needs fixing and im sure you would get a better
response, if you maybe helped ppl learn what to look for, and actually get them
involved, and make them feel that their time there is actually doing something to
improve this game as a whole

the ppl who throw "rubbish" maybe just need to be ignored and no statment made,
because if they cant explain why they think the L2 needs a buff, maybe its because
they lack the technical sence or way to explain it in what they see is the issue

so maybe instead of saying your comments are rubbish, maybe talk with them and
try to understand why they are saying what they are saying, I too believe the L2
dosent need a buff, but he/she thinks it does, and maybe ppl need to be listened
too, and helped to understand, then just jumping on the insane train and start
calling his comment rubbish, because just because you dont see what he is seeing
dosent mean his comments should be ignored

this is what some ppl are talking about, they feel like they dont meet your standards
and if they dont you will sure make them know it

thats the issue

"I believe that buffing the L2 was one of the more entertaining suggestions, no reasons
given for why a buff was required, he simply wanted it buffing."

And the word "troll" never came to mind?

As for the rest of what you said, it seems that you're easily angered. There are better
ways than fighting fire with fire.

The only people who are treated harshly are the players who CONSISTANTLY post rubbish.

IF you go there with the intention of changing something, and back it up with evidence it
is worth considering. The problem comes where people just turn up and start running their
mouth.

I believe that buffing the L2 was one of the more entertaining suggestions, no reasons
given for why a buff was required, he simply wanted it buffing.

It's not the lack of knowledge of facts are the problem, LJ. It's the opinion of what
facts are going to be changed that cause conflict. You get two or more people who are
stubborn in a debate and it never ends because they're all theories and opinions BACKED by
facts.

For instance, I think the game should at least loosely relate to real life physics and
history. You think the game should remain traditional and be like other RPG's on the
market. There are no facts here.

Being constructively critical, your way of handling a player who is wrong or doesn't carry
a popular opinion is often uncalled for. You want more players on your test server and to
participate yet you act condescending, narrow minded, short, and stubborn. Note, I said 'act'.

So maybe another question should be put into the original post. "Is the negative attitude
of ONF causing disinterest?"

Word of advice. Kindness goes a long way.

I'd actually love to make one, however my schedule has never worked out so I end
up doing my own testing in my own time. Hopefully I can make the next one, but
until we sell our house I pretty much have to get out on weekends.

"I believe the back lash of more experianced game mechanic players, sets the tone of
why most ppl dont download and contribute"

>>> That only happens when someone comes in, ignores the facts of the game and
spouts utter crap, and when told that they are wrong, completely ignores it. I could look
at the person who completely agree's with this statement too as a perfect example of this.

Learning the game mechanics = playing the game. Someone tells you about the
North/South advantage? Thats learning the game mechanics. Someone tells you that SD
caps at 900SD? Thats game mechanics.

What we are asking for is people to come to the battle tests, play the ships, and review
the ships. If you want to ask questions as to why something wasn't done, why something
was done, or even get tips on how to play, this is the perfect opportunity. But don't come
on saying "YOU ARE SO NOOB, THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE, YOUR FACTS ABOUT
GAME MECHANICS ARE WRONG". Because that won't end well. You must always be
prepared to back up your point of view with facts, and if you can't do that, then you most
likely are wrong yourself.
