  • Flying Boats, Sea Planes and Tenders

Adding
4 Sea Plane Tenders (1 for each nation)
12 Seaplanes / Flying Boats (3 for each nation)
*For French/Italian/Russina see page 10

Role
Tenders - CL that handles flying boats, Dedicated scouting ship with defensive armament

Balance
KM - Largest capacity, slowest speed, poor armament
IJN - High speed, average armament
USN - Largest Displacement, slow speed, average armament
RN - Average all around

Aircraft - High level scouts with large radius of sight, ability to see submerged subs,
heavy armament, high attack
rating, anti - submarine duties. Are only carried by the Tenders, no other ship can use them.
Potential Armament
Depth Charges, Torpedoes, Level Bombs, Mines, Flares

Balance
KM - Average all around
IJN - Light armament, High Speed
USN - Slow speed, High Hit points
RN - Slow speed, Heaviest Armament

Now why would you want these you ask? Basically you get a scout with a very large
observation radius that is still capable of being taken out by AA and
fighters, they will be able to see far enough to stay out of range of AA guns (but may
still be in range of IJN, all depends on what SDE wants to do). Now the kicker to the
planes is the Tender will only really be able to carry 3 - 6 of them (IRL 2 was max, but
that is the number of planes it can carry, they serviced squardrons of them) and launch 1
at a time. That sounds useless but remember the Boats will be able to stay back with the
assumed fighter wall that should be there guarding the BB's and still see the enemy.
Basically it will be circling with your teams fighters so hopefully when enemy fighters
come, they will engage your teams fighters. I will add 3 Flying Boats for each nation
(consider them Tier 1 and Tier 2, Tier 3 but they are literally Tier 6, 7, 8 scouts) The
final boats not being available until very high. They are arranged according to armament,
not speed. They are in no way final so don't be suprised if i switch them out with
another, or change the order they are available.
Secondly the boats wont be available until lvl 70ish This gives you a reason to have a
high level scout. It would also keep the ships out of Blitzkrieg, since the scout would
(if used properly) be impossible to kill. Also the plane will be armed and capable of
intercepting everything other than Fighters.
The ships may also be obtainable at a lower lvl, say 30 or 40, and operate a large number
of standard recon aircraft, but it will only launch 1 on deck at a time (in theory it
could have as many in the air as it has support slots)

Hopefully these could even help with scouting problems. It is assumed that if you use this
ship, you intend to scout for your team as it is all you can really do. A CV (even a
Oyodo) with only scouts is usually flamed to death, these will be dedicated scout carriers
that don't take up a CV spot.

They will either be purchased like the CL 0.5's or as a premium ship for 1 or 2 dollars
max. (or whatever SDE decides, though I highly doubt people would pay much for them.

All aircraft are potential ASW. Either being able to spot submerged submarines, and
dropping depth charges. Able to see subs, and drop charges.

So here you go. Remeber, these are the histroical specifications, they will all carry more
aircraft in game, and may be a bit faster. Aircraft under "not shown" are ones that can
replace the ones I selected, only ones with a photo am I suggesting be put in!

tonnage, speed and armament were different during the war)

boy - those ideas you said you were saving, may as well say them now. It seems this thread
is running out of steam (but it does have a very high ratio of rec : view) As for subs
and such, we really have no say in them anymore since they are in development. I'd say,
look at what TheRattler suggested, they will most likely be something like that. APA's
are classifyed as CL's in game, they don't have their own special class, just weak slow
CL's. I'm not sure how many Aux ships (Tenders, Depot ships, repair ships, floating docks,
hospital ships etc) they really will ever put in game, but they will all share the
classification of CL no matter what their unique ability is.

Myself - work on another idea

other peps - you've already been addressed, you don't need to again.

firstly. BUMP.

secondly, id probably have to agree with Reng. make them CLs or even support
ships like they truely are. but i recognise the hard part of coding the game to
recognise a new ship type..
maybe if they slot the subs in as support vessels we could do it. or maybe not, i
dont know what is in store there.

i still like the CVE thing, but ill go find a CVE post to whore in later.

its still a good idea, and it deserves a good run at the top of the forum.

so firstly... BUMP :P

Basically, the planes themselves need a 70+ scout, so they wouldn't be in blitz. Yes they
have a DD armament, mainly because it is defensive/AA. If you're in these ships you are
hanging behind the BB's scouting for them, and maybe popping a few rounds of AA, or
scurrying back to guard a carrier. Sorry, but as light cruisers is how I would suggest
they be put in, I have thought it though many a time. Light Cruisers it is.

if i wanted to bump one of those ideas i would

but how are these CL's?
a light cruiser is a larger DD
with guns that actully do things not just scout

just becuase they dont carry bombs doesnt mean
they are "Carriars" becuase clearly there main job
is with planes and most ships who mainly use planes
are class'd as carriars.
and who says there cant be unlimted CVE slots ina GB
if it was ever implaented

and then how would they work in blitz or in DD/CL(CA) games
for the few that are out there

they would be harder to bal them as CL's and just make them CV's

Neo - Once again, the CVL suggestion is entierly different. Even if it was implimented
them people would just complain that these are a waist of a CVL spot. I am classifying
them as light cruisers as that is all they are. A ship with light armament and the
ability to use scouts, and scouts a lone. The be a CV or CVL they would need to operate
full squadrons of TB, DB, Fighters, and Scouts. If you want the CVL idea, just bump one of
the current ones, there are many. This is not one.
As for armament, it is assumed that they would be decent fighting platforms, especially
if the pilot is a un-classed fighter pilot. Finally anti-submarine is assumed, but up to
SDE if they want it. The best case scenario is that these are released when submarines
are. Thank you either way.

ne3o
yea maybe make a cap at lvl 60 for a CVE slot
so they are able to get a CV2
and arnt useing T2 Planes and stuff

Downfall of the big scout planes in GB thogh fighters
will eat them up fast so maybe $DE could make something
so there defensive armorment actully could do something
not like shoot down scores of fighters but let the big scouts
go down with a bang!

i like ne3o's comment at making CV1 and lower as CV(E) these ships should be
limited in their own way, but they dont in any way make a REAL difference in a GB1.
But then the issue comes of lvl 120 pilots on the CV1s... =.=, may require some
thought there......

Rengokuy, outstanding post, good research. You have my dailey reccomend.

as almost all of these *scoutplanes* had roles as anti-sub, im thinking as someone
suggested, they could be used in this role against the as yet built Subs.
As in these planes can *FIND* them when they are submerged and hunt them.

There are other things id like to say and add, but they are unvarnished and still
swimming in my head, so ill have to post them later..

*NB* PLEASE highlight this thread by support ticket to the TNF/GM, and dont give up
on supporting it regularly, push this idea it is an awesome one.

hey More scouts the better in my eyes
in a GB but i dunno how the exp would be worked
this class and that it should be a event ship so any
BO can use it and maybe add a Ace Scout to pilot
them or something.

Maybe $DE can add them to a CVE class so
they dont take up CV slots(and are not class'd
as CL) and then with the CVE you can Add Hybrids
and other CV1's?

ooo, I like having comments to respond too <3

rhg/irving/kyala/pug (anyone I missed) Thank yew ^.^

limz - leaching means you do abosolutly nothing. These are being made to sit back and
launch scouts........kind'a different.
