This was done in "real life". However, it was hectic and time consuming on the flight deck. In extreme cases, planes were pushed overboard to make room for the exchange aircraft.
The idea has some merit. One could leave the partially fueled and arm planes setting on the flight deck....and the tradeoff being, as in real life, very dangerous if the flight deck took a hit. Flames and explosions followed that could cripple a CV.
From a game programming standpoint, it would be easier to dump the planes overboard. The cancel button eliminates the partially fueled planes.
