  • Exp Bonus for Successful Scouting

- For every ship in a plane or ships sight range, you gain X amount of exp per X
second(s)

Would require a big coding change, but imo would be a fantastic change to the game if
implemented.

An example would be, say 50 exp per ship every 10 seconds.

Obviously the exp amounts would have to be balanced, it would be far better than
slapping a rule in. If that means lowering general exp, and having this, then so be it.

Edit: Forgot the change about all types of planes.

Edit 2: Edited to include ship sight range

"I'm worried about all the CL/CA's that would sit in the back and leech the game. 1
scout and they get a part of the shared Exp and can just run around a little. And
how can I prove that they havent scouted more than once...?! Many rules allready
have a hard time being upheld and followed. This would not be any help."

Most CL/CA's just leach for shared exp anyway. The only ones that do something are ASW
and AA ships, which actually get amazing exp anyway.

@Ferrard:

No, your summary is pretty close....though I will point out that in my original mention
of that topic on page 4, I did say,

"a much higher percentage chance of victory"

not guaranteed victory/autowin...because I agree with you that there are other
factors that come into play and that scouting alone is not the only factor.

To the following people whose posts have been hidden: ljsevern, falkon71,

If you persist in answering flames with flames, I will lock this down. No ifs, ands or
buts about it.

@ Falkon: I edited my response to your hidden post to include a note about what your main
point was, IIRC. If it's wrong, please PM me and I'll change it accordingly. And if
you're curious, no I didn't take it as a flame =P

I don't really like the idea..

I'm worried about all the CL/CA's that would sit in the back and leech the game. 1
scout and they get a part of the shared Exp and can just run around a little. And
how can I prove that they havent scouted more than once...?! Many rules allready
have a hard time being upheld and followed. This would not be any help.

I was so tired of 100+ cv's whit locals. Now it's scouts... If the other team have a
fighter whore and lots of AA-boats, your team are doomed. Because you would
simply just camp the cv whit a couple of fighters and scout whit the rest and if some
would slip through the AA boats would take care of those. Very few people knows
about ''smart scouting''.
And against a Bomber whore the problem would be even worse. There would be
nothing stopping him spambombing your entire team in minutes.

It's not the way to get people to use scouts. The rule should be that you need to
carry scouts. No it does not make anyone use them, BUT when people start being
tired of loosing enough they might start learning it.
I know most people blame/trashtalk cv's for not scouting... And the
blaming/trashtalking should be stopped by rule. Cvs are not scouters. They have a
support function and not only scouting!!

I cannot recc it sorry. Would cause more trouble than good I'm afraid off.

Edited -- And how would the Exp rate be for those who cannot scout? Thinking of
nelsons, FF/DD's and subs. Even tho you have shared Exp you still get more for the
Exp you create.

Two posts have already been hidden by me for moving off-topic and flaming. Keep it
clean gentlemen. Or I will feel like I manage a day-care.

Altsein/Sir Ducuro;

I am not saying give huge amounts of exp. If you read my thread, it would be that exp
would be lowered, and the way to get back to the exp we have now would be by using
your scout successfully.

Quite honestly, you need to read the idea before calling it lame.

very good idea

i dont think they will put it in but man would it be good if they did. as most people
rely on cv and bb to scout for them

Eep, I don't think I was clear enough in my previous post. The Scouting = Winning
connection isn't made because it doesn't -seem- to be there. The majority of the time,
the team that scouts best will win, a point obviously proven by fleet-wars and HA's. The
loss even with scouts just happens often enough that people don't associate Scouting with
Auto-Win.

That said, you're talking about the poll that started this whole thing. This suggestion
doesn't advocate one way or another on the Mandatory Scouts debate - it just addresses the
-real- issue. Force someone who normally doesn't carry a scout to do so, and they
probably still won't use it, which makes the new rule pointless. This suggestion is to
give people an incentive to use their scout, and would be light-years more useful than a
Mandatory Scouts rule.

EDIT:

Okay, so this became an orphaned response. For those of you just joining us now, this
post was in response to a previous post by Falkon in which he noted that my previous
statement that "Scouting = Autowin is not true" would mean that the whole "Mandatory
Scouts" debate is completely moot. This was, from what I can tell, a misunderstanding
born out of poor word choice in my previous post which implied that Scouting didn't help a
team win at all. My correction is above.
