  • What's left for KM??

This is kinda a whine thread, but also a general question for everyone.
I put this here, because at first hand, there are fewer and fewer KM players every
day along with IJN, so, how do you foresee the KM/IJN future?

There is nothing special left for those nations in the big picture, at least on the BBs
line. SS and CVs are a complete different issue and they maybe competitive yet,
"""""maybe"""".

IJN still has torps, but nobody wins a GB/HA/whatever if it's not a kitta parade with
torps.
KM still has speed, so you can run away from the battle, which seems to be the only
use right now with the first glance of the new SN BB4&5, and still there is the BB6 to
be seen.

No armor, cottonballs firepower, range is slightly higher than the rest but the minimal
difference is compensated with the position of the most common BB5 guns
placement, you have to expose the complete transversal line for a good slingshot on
an H44, with catastrophic results due the lack of any armor.

I'm the onlyone thinking on this? I'm missing something? Consider all aspects, maybe
I'm too short to see the hidden KM potential, but so far I stand that there is
something wrong here.

Remenents
" From a balance standpoint, buffing the damage would cause issues down the
road. Going against an H44 you can nose in and charge on them, take that first hit
from them while your still out of range and still carrying on. If the H44had the same
hit power as other BB5s, you nose in to get in range and fire, and one good salvo
and your toast."

I apologize ahead of time incase I misunderstood this, but...

Try to rush a L2 or Monty or SY. Then try to rush a H44 and take a full salvo from
each of these ships. Tell me what happens. Monty will probably sink you, L2 will
come close to it as will SY. The H44 will make you lose your SD and maybe some DP,
but not enough to make you think twice. The shell damage on the 39 and 44 seem
to vary greatly, maybe its just me, but I have noticed this. Full salvo on a ship 15k
dmg, next full salvo, same ship that has no SD now, 5k dmg... whats going on here?
So yes, I feel the shell dmg needs to be tweeked. Not BUFFED, so to speak, but
made to not vary so greatly and I would be happy.

Turning force adjustment on H44 is actually probably the best suggestion I've heard. If
range is increased your now at QV as previous post said (or very close to it), speed buff
to 42 would now put it at longest range and capable of outrunning all other BB5s (or
atleast maintain the same speed). From a balance standpoint, buffing the damage would
cause issues down the road. Going against an H44 you can nose in and charge on them, take
that first hit from them while your still out of range and still carrying on. If the H44
had the same hit power as other BB5s, you nose in to get in range and fire, and one good
salvo and your toast. Sounds great if your in an H44 in that situation but truely
unbalanced to the other nations. Consider a Kaiser for comparison. Could you imagine a
40knt kaiser, or one that hit harder?

But going back to the turning force, if upped enough (and do not know how all the numbers
translate to play) you could potentially get the illusion of more range from slinging.
Could nose in further and be able to swing back out faster than before, thus allowing you
to throw the back end out faster as well, improving your chances of dodging the shells
comming. Plays into the KM style as well as forcing people to truely feel the benefits to
learn to play the ship style.

The Hitbox was fixed...

It was fixed since I delivered this piece of brilliance:

http://www.navyfield.com/board/view.asp?Num=114382&Sort=A04&Order=re_upday&PageSize=20&Page=2&SearchPart=id&SearchText=splid&Ctg_1=&Ctg_2=&Ctg_3=

The fact that the speed of H44 is the same as L2 but it has a lower angle makes up for the
mms we are talking about with regards to range. (Notice this is not the same as 40+ angles).

A range buff to the H44 takes it into QV territory which is clearly not possible. H44
needs 2 changes:

1. Increased shell penetration which allows breaking of all armour except 2 gunned ships
and QV.
2. Increased turning force by about 1.

I am with Splid on this one.

Everyone suggesting a rangebuff for H44 has no real idea what he is talking about.

Armor penetration aka. shell weight issue fix and maybe a buff to either speed or turning
force and H44 is perfectly set.

That example does not cover what i meant.

Answering the request for a rebalance (if they can pull it of without a range change,
fine. My opinion is , that it needs one, but ill be happy if it goes without one as well)
with the phrase "learn to play" is a generalization and simplification of the issue.

True if someon does such low damage, that person has a long way to go.
However thats not what this is about. It is perfectly possible to do well in the H44, i
know that myself. Im still saying the ship has serious issues compared to the other bb5s,
simply because it is much more challenging to use and doesnt have anything at which it
excels, hence it is the worst of the lot.

It needs to be rebalanced (in this case buffed (shell damage and range. yes range, since
it got a smaller sprite a while back, but the hitbox is still larger than the sprite. And
since we will most likely never get a smaller hitbox, range it is then)).

"As soon as you even dare to mention that there might be something wrong with certain km
ships or traits (They have excellent engies, but that doesnt necessarily mean theyre fast,
also depends on ship) you will be gutted and hung out to dry by the UK Field fanclub, aka
"Pro players". Arrogant statements like Learn to play are common. "

OK, lets play this through then.

Someone with an equal level H44 crew as me plays in a BB1-5 and gets 50k attack. I play
in the same room and get 400k attack. The person who gets 50k complains about the H44.

Eplain to me how telling them to learn how to play the game is not a correct assertion?

Its the same story everytime.

As soon as you even dare to mention that there might be something wrong with certain km
ships or traits (They have excellent engies, but that doesnt necessarily mean theyre fast,
also depends on ship) you will be gutted and hung out to dry by the UK Field fanclub, aka

Well sorry, been here for 4 years and with 4 cv lines and all bb5s except MN and SN
(simply no time, Damn you RL) i think i learned quite a bit. I admit that the general
skill level in GBs is not impressive, but every now and then im pleasantly surprised, even
by relatively new players (not to be referred to as noobs unless there is a reason for it,
the term is derogative anyway).

As i mentioned in another thread most km ships are fine or at least competitive (it takes
time and a steep learning curve to handle some, but they are quite rewarding as well) the
H44 is at a serious disadvantage compared to the other BB5s. True it can defeat the others
with a sjilled player at the helm, but playing the other BB5s against it is still much
easier, so clearly its not on pair with them.

We shall see if this new attempt at balancing it along with MN and SN finally makes it a
fine vessel or if those "balancing" there will succumb to the "its all fine LTP" propaganda.

Wow, wall of text sry ;)

KM are the most "grindy" of all nations. They may get good ships but they get them ~5lvl
later than anyone. Also they have alot of 10-15 lvl grinding gaps between ships. This make
them very undesirable.
Oh and is it normal light shells to get the same bonus as heavy ones, or it is bug from
the game? My heavy shells do on paper 100(+200) while light "only" 70(+210)

I had trimmed main gunners as well. 200 vet elites. Maybe that has something to do
with it.

Look at the difference just from gun sets, the weight is equivalent to 1.5-2 lvl 120
sailors in weight. Unless the trip 15s are DRAMATICALLY lower in weight the difference
will not matter.
