  • Ok, time to end the PHH spam in blitz!

I beared with this until today, when someone outranged my 8'' mogami guns with PHH and killed me. So not only a PHH does 800 damage, which is way more than my 8'' shells, but  also outranges me???

So wait, let me say it again, with explanation. A SMALL MORTAR BOMB fired at a range of 250 yards (230 m) and designed to explode at contact with a SUBMERGED ship (because the damage against subs is in fact done by heavy water pressure, and not by armor penetration and/or heavy explosive),  in this game does more damage and from a better range than a  8'' gun (205mm)  that in reality was firing at a range of  29000 yd (27km) some 256 pound (116kg) shells!

Why is this happening? Why haven't the devs removed the damage vs surfaced ships? Why is the range so big? Why are HH even allowed in battle where subs are not allowed?!?

This feature is not historically accurate, is not ballanced and is not fun to play against. I would have understand to a certain degree if people would have to buy the darn weapon. But a free event item that EVERYONE GOT to be this powerfull is absolutely  NOT FUN.

Please do smth about this. At least, until you can balance the weapon, please remove it from games where SS are banned.

what i find interesting is ....

the same players who whine and cry about .. "OMG SUBS ARE OP AND SHOULD BE NERFED TO DEATH" ..

are the ones telling the blitz players to ... "AWWW TOO BAD .. LEARN TO LIVE WITH PHH .. STOP WHINING" ..



the same group of BB players (who are killing the game btw) that shrug and offer snide trolling comments when PHH is exploited and abused outside of it's intended game mode usage .. are the ones that whine and moan and threaten to quit when a SS is used properly in it's intended role of ship-killer .. the differance here is .. in GB, they can't play SS nor counter them effectively (good players can - but the majority of the whiner BB's apparenlty can't), but they can range and run and avoid PHH frigates on a big map ... so therefore, as long as THEIR staus quo BB superiority is protected, its ok to abuse HH and drive new players away from the game in frustration .... go figure

I like how people are so quick to throw up the old "rl =/= nf" when this is an issue of game balance and op content. I also like all the trash talking by players that cant manage to win half their battles in this thread.

I like how you claim that, but of all the "big bad BB players" here, all of them were actually supporting the OP.

I like how some people just dont have enough brainpower to manage well in game if they don't have OP content to use.

I like how NO ONE of the pro-surface HH explained why its logic, simply trolling and insulting the OP for having a different opinions. I like how they didn't manage to produce a single argument for it, other than them liking to use OP stuff.




There IS a problem. DD balance in particular is heavily hit by them, since a fletcher now have more firepower than a Gearing, a somers, the UK L-class. People are using short range shotgun hit that have BB firepower on the lvl 12 ship.

Either supress the surface damage, or reduce it to something that even a DD1 would shrug off (10 HE damage to surfaced target per HH or something)

What makes you say this?

First of all, the main drawback of PHH at range is a bad spread. However, I have wrote this post, as I have already explained in the OP, because somehow smbd managed to 1 shot my mogami from a range as big as my 8'' guns. So a very good spread on a very long range. I am definitely sure no one could have defended from that.

But let's just say this was luck.

However, I have PHH too and I have used them as main armament on a Frigate Y, so I have a clear idea of what they can do. And it is really hard to defend in blitz because:

1. small PHH ships are hard to hit from distance and have great speed to close up on big ships
2. big guns have bad spread and bad reload, so missing my frigate at mid range, means that I can close in and fire my PHH
3. there is also free smoke that can be used by a ship to close in and fire its PHH
4. a good close range hit from 4 PHH launchers means almost any ship will be 1 shoted, except maybe armor whores BBs.

In many of my games, I managed to close in, fire PHH and return back to my line of ships, usually killing or crippling a CA in the process.

So please elaborate on how can one defend from such a scenario, using sheer brainpower?

hmm i found the easiest way to COUNTER PHHs in the epicfail blitz mode is to use the ever wonderful MULTIPURPOSE Type 93M3 Mod 2 torpedos on a Simakai...Pwnage is what it creates

Dude, he wad talking about people that can't live with OP content (AKA, bad players that just suck in blitz so they have to use the n00b tube in order to do some damage). He never mentioned anything about player having to "Learn to deal with OP content and get over it"

You do know HH is an explosive right?.. Let me toss one at your house, its not a sub right? so it shouldn't hurt your house right?
Because my house is exactly the same as an armored warship, right? I'm pretty sure flak guns would destroy my house too, and they do 0 damage to any ships.
