  • Meeting Actions - *Update 2*

    12. 02. 2012 01:58

vick11

Actions from the Fleet Leader meeting on 1st December:

1.  Randy will request a specific update on the issue of HA:

-  Core HA update and crashing issues.

-  HA Battle Mode.

-  Timeline and place in priorities.

*In progress*

*Update 2 - Very grateful for the reporting of HA bugs, please keep those coming in.  The Devs are working to replicate those in testing to then continue working on solutions.  There have been some changes introduced over the last couple of patches so any news on how HA is working would be welcomed on tickets.*

2.  We will question SDE about the Achievement System that was on the original work plan for 2012.  Is it still on the list or has it been removed, if still an aspiration what is happening with it?

*Update 2 - Investigation showed that the introduction of a meaningful achievement system within the current game engine would be a major project and so it was put on hold for the time being whilst other work is done.  It may get reserected later.*

3.  We will explore the possibility of a Poll system that pops-up at the Login page (only once per account for each Poll) to encourage greater participation in Polls.

*Being considered*

4.  When the new Fleet Leader forum opens we will discuss topics for meaningful, constructive, Polls.

*Waiting for Fleet Leader forum area in new construct - second priority after Amazon project*

5.  The Fleet Leader forum area is being worked on, but we will get an estimate as to when it may appear.

*No2 priority to Amazon - latest estimate is start of Feb 13"

6.  The new Fleet Leader area will be permission based rather than automatically linked to account status.  As such we will be able to consider cases for specific access beyond pure Fleet Leaders or Fleet Accounts if there is tangible benefit, eg some of the Testers on a case-by-case basis.

*As above*

7.  Trainworld content is useful, but falling behind recent changes as it is not a SDE resource and very much reliant on a single person.  Need to explore whether the asset can be incorporated to NF.com and kept upto date or elements of it replicated on the core site.

*Unfortunately SDE cannot take over the updating or content of trainworld, which is privately owned/operated/updated and thereby reliant on that person*

8.  Update '/' commands in-game and in the guides.  Anyone with input to that please forward to Head Moderator who will request the update.

*Passed to Devs - thank you for inputs*

9.  Update and expand game guides.  We intend to set work going on this with the revised Fleet Leader forum area (that will be read to all, write for Fleet Leaders).

*Some background work started on this (thanks to Lj and Darkfrost) - considering a way to get wider involvement ahead of FL area as well*

10.  Explore whether the Test Server can be same loading as main game but then a branch option from the Login page to save having to use a separate client.  There was a similar option in the past, can it be done again?

*Question asked - Waiting on response*

*Update 2 - although this was possible a few years ago for a short time, unfortunately it is not technically possible with today's version*

11.  Forum Rules and Server Rules review, plus application of rules.  We will open these discussions in the revised Fleet Leader area.

*Waiting on FL area - could be an agenda item for Fleet Summit?*

12.  Randy will establish an issues update thread that he will endeavour to update weekly on any progress across a range of issues and questions so we can attempt to better track and communicate where we are on developments, timeframes and priorities.

13.  We will consult SDE about producing a 'public' version of the Moderator Manual so players can better understand how TeamNF is constructed, how it works and its accountability, and the processes for complaint.

*Draft sent to SDE for consideration*

*Update 2 - Draft approved.  Should appear as a pdf on the Download > Manual > Public Mod Manual  link in the near future*

===================

On a side note, Randy talked about advertisement of the game through Amazon to attract new players and linkages with them on item payment.  Hopefully there will be more news on this in the near future.

Meeting was a good step in the right direction, apart for certain group trying to bring irrational and personal agendas it was something quite productive, much more productive than anything comming out from the FLFs in all this year.

Also there was given quite usefull information for understand certain issues, I hope they keep on that way in the next FLFs and avoid certain people to ruin them again.

There was little to no new information given. And to call it productive is laughable. We "covered" 4 topics in the first hour and a half.

Agreed. Fleet leaders represent a good chunk of the server population but certainly not everyone.

Dallion

Just for the record, the meeting went for over 4 long hours..

In attendance:
SDE = Randy (GM)
TNF = Vick, tacoma, BBR, Alex (and i cant remember the other 2-3, sorry)

Thanks to all fleet leaders who participated and to those fleets who sent a proxy representative too.

I think everyone in attendance managed to get some information (some we knew, some we didn’t). Either way the meeting was beneficial and probably should be held every 6 months.

Meeting some of the other fleet leaders /key players on TNF Teamspeak was also a highlight.

Additional notes from the meeting - vick please update your post.

I was apparent that communication from SDE was severely lacking through GM > TNF > Player and was a concern for many fleet leaders.

Example: No GM or TNF knew what the XMAS event starting in 5days time would entail.

This has resulted in 0 (zero) advertising, promotion, word of mouth or hype to get players online prior to the event starting.

For those who do not know - Randy is NFNA's English speaking GM (game manager).
Currently he works mainly across the weekends from about 6-8pm > Midnight.
(Other Korean GMs cover weekdays.) - I hope i got these times right.

  • I'm wondering if we should do a spotlight article on Randy for the community and perhaps on TNF members in general as well (vick I'll email you soon).

Randy and Vick have both agreed Communication is key to success and will endeavour to get info to the community through weekly updates.

Randy will work closer with SDE to initiate communication through to NFNA community.
Weekly updates will include a percentage % complete progress bar to give clear visibility to the community of how progress is going for items under development. As well as any interesting news like Events, TNF restructure, Amazon etc (keep reading).

For privacy reasons, Randy disclose the number of Devs employed on NFNA (NF1 in their eyes) but the number is greater than 1 and less than 10.
Devs are current priority is working on Win7 fix and Op-convoy
(Dont worry too much - Randy will provide updates during his weekly update to the community.)

Randy will have 1-2 accounts enabled for playing.. not just events/GM work.
This will allow Randy to spend time interacting with the community.

Other items of interest.
TESTING
Alexcaboose - Tier 1-3 rentals (at a minimum) will be released next week (13th) for SN,RM,MN - Thank to the players who spent the time to test. Tier 4-6 will follow shortly after.
SS/ASW will be the next main area under review and will need to happen at the same time.

TNF
TNF have had a restructure as part of the combined server merge (accessible via the dropdown on the NF website).
Vick has advised the structure appears to be working well and some tweaking may still be required.
Position information will be provided about what each TNF class is tasked to do.

Discussion was also held around TNF in regards to - The time they spend weekly, rewards, discipline etc.

NF General
Randy has advised that promotion & payment of NF through Amazon hopefully will occur soon and will provide more info in future.
2013 - Many items still on the list for development to keep the game going

The goal is to have the Fleet leader forums returned and up and running before New Year (some web development required).

Hacking/Exploit - This is will always be an ongoing item with investigations continuing to run. It is recommended the Player base assists with reporting suspicious activity via support ticket.
Possible return of the "Plane off border" warning that was used during NF fleet wars.

Tarrif sailor booster/base tools to also be included with Trainworld/ game guides when transfered to NF website.

TNF/GM recognises they do not spend as much time reviewing the suggestions area due to the large schedule of existing items to fix/develop/create (Vick does bundle up the suggestions and sends them to SDE/GMs).
Standardised moderation of forums will also be reviewed by TNF for a common approach.

Review / refresh (eg sprites) of existing 4 nations... there was some discussions about this but I cant remember the result.

NFNA content differs from the Base Korean code which does cause some issues/bugs and even some disagreements between NFNA and KR (this is good to know).

Some discussion around restored accounts.

On a side note: It was a disappointing that Randy disappeared from time to time but his input and attendance was welcomed.

Thanks again folks.
Looking forwards to seeing the items actioned Vick/Randy > SDE

Dec. 13th. Not sure where you got this week from. Furthermore, Tiers 4-7 (as we count the "unique" rentals as a tier) are almost completed and may possibly be in the same patch.

Thanks Dallion for the meeting notes so others could see them, and I am working on another meeting in Jan next year just to give us an update on how things are going.
