  • Remove the No Torp option from World At War rooms

Telegraph

As the World at War rooms are bb exclusive for the most part just forbid subs from ever entering, like Blitz.
If the general playerbase thinks World at War  should remove the no submarine option, then recommend this thread. It is past the time for World At War to include submarine without discriminating.

War entails RISK, not Molly-Coddling surface ship players.

Yes I know that NavyField =/= Real Life and this game displays this situational fact everyday.

Recommend that the No Torp option be removed forever.

CV uses sonar so the argument "we can't see subs" or "we want to use escorts" does not stand. If you are afraid to sail out by yourself, then follow modern military protocol and stay near the carriers.

All that is required is minor behavioral modification and intelligence/strategy application on the part of bb drivers to remain near the sonar equipped surface vessels.

the majority of players agree that we should

KEEP THE NO TORP OPTION

Rec'd. Everyone should be able to play, or take the game mode out.

OK,

one last time for all you really slow ones, WaW can be played by SS, so its senseless to discuss this issue any longer.

Keep no torp option

Lolz, while we are on it, let's also take out the following game modes for discrimination:

Blitz

Select

Skirmish

actually all game modes except GB and GB2, as each one of them forbids certain players to enter.

Is that what you propose here?

keep the no torp option

Why you would feel the need to quote yourself without additional comment leaves too much to the imagination. I see your thread concerning escorts in WaW and the majority views escorts in WaW as an unfortunate liability. (Frag/FriendlyFire)
Defeats the purpose of winning a game when you get penalized.
By removing the No Torp option teams will be better balanced and even bb5 or bb6 will not be able to always be King of the Hill. If sharing some thunder does not scare you, then reccomend to remove the No Torp option.

As pointed out earlier in your thread, lots of bb in WaW are speedboats and easily outdistance submarines after ss is discovered. As it is currently, No Torp room specifically exclude ss at level, thus the option should be removed as it leads to one sided class play on NF. If someone wants a bb specific room, there already exists the "Select" feature to create a room that is designed to cater to the bb only battle crowd.

In the overall picture by excluding submarines with the No Torp option, this ensures that filled World At War rooms will be bb only at much higher exp gain than what is allowed for the rest of naval classes present.

How often does a World at War waiting room last if a No Torp room opens close by?  By removing the No Torp option the exodus can be halted. With great reward comes great risk.

There is an option to play with torps and people can open a room with it for submarines to play, so the game mode itself does not exclude them.

It is people who don't use the option and they do it for a reason. Force people to play with torps without addressing the real problem and the only result will be little to no rooms being played.

The nature of the game mode (high exp for high attack, plus no caps) creates a lot of issues that mixed together result in our current state of play and chosen options.

You keep pointing out the risk factor as one of the strong points of the argument. However, there is objectively little to no risk for an SS player in these rooms in the current ASW/SS state.

Some facts that support this statement:

1- CVs earn little exp, so very little join, hence not many CVs to use Sonar. (Result: No sub detection or counters)

2- No Escorts: See norms explanation in the other thread, they are tecnhically unviable due to the no caps and little displacement. (Result: No sub detection or counters)

3- No ASW Ships: Current ASW ships were not originally designed for the tasks, so they don't have enough usable displacement or decent exp gain at their level to be an effective available ship for WaW (Result: No sub detection or counters)

4- BBs are not designed to carry HH: Some ships just do not mix with HH as they need the AA platforms to excel. This has been said countless times, BBs exist and were designed way before submarines and were never meant to be used as a counter for them. They can't detect them, they can't attack them. On top of this, WaW scenario makes them extremely fast and the very few CVs available can't keep up with their speed and keep them in detection range (Result: No sub detection or counters)

5- Contrary to what you have said before, Subs do have an incredible firepower and manuverability and are effective capital ships. In WaW they have a huge power and as pointed out before, no counters. (Result: No risk for subs)

The use of no torp option in WaW is a result of many things that need to be addressed and it is not due to "wanting to milk an excessive amount of exp without competition from submarines" (in fact that last quote is better applied to a submarine if you look at the facts above).

Submarines are objectively not balanced for the game mode and players have expressed that thought by applying "no torps" to the room.

I would love to see more submarines in WaW, but removing the no torp option does not solve the problems that result in the "no torps" being applied to the room, and your arguments so far have not been strong.

The No Torp option provides an exclusionary environment. There is the "Select room" option available for bb players to make exclusionary rooms. Obviously the exp gain is not the same though. I suppose if I wanted to keep over powered bb ib business, I would keep the No Torp option to exclude any competition that I did not feel needed to be present as well. Why not rename the room to "BB Select Room II"? ( Like the GBII")
Either it is World at War or it isn't.

Now the obvious remains, as there is not really a desire of the playerbase to support the removal of the No Torp option. The bottom line is that World at War high exp rooms basically translates currently to bb only. Nothing changes the obvious.
